1. Who We Are

fishTraX - Salt Water is developed and operated by Jim Sanders ("we," "us," or "our"). You can reach us at support@fishtrax.app.

2. What We Collect

When you use fishTraX, we collect the following information:

• Account information — your email address and encrypted password (managed by AWS Cognito)
• Location data — GPS coordinates you choose to save as fishing spots
• Catch data — species, bait, size, weight, date, time, and notes you log
• Automatically captured conditions — weather, wind speed, moon phase, and tide data recorded at the time you log a catch
• Photos — catch photos you choose to upload
• Device information — basic device type and OS version for app compatibility

We do not collect payment card information. In-app purchases are processed by Apple and subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data only to operate the fishTraX app:

• To display your fishing spots and catch history on your personal map
• To generate insights about your best spots, species, and conditions
• To create Share Codes when you explicitly choose to share spots
• To deliver the daily fishing report for your region
• To sync your data across your devices
• To enable offline functionality via local caching

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

4. Your Spots Are Private

Every fishing spot you save is private by default. Your exact GPS coordinates are never visible to other users, never included in community maps, and never shared with third parties.

The only way another user sees your spot locations is if you explicitly generate a Share Code and send it to them. You can revoke any Share Code at any time from within the app.

5. Community Map

The community map shows general fishing activity in an area — not exact coordinates. If we display community data, it is aggregated and anonymized. Your specific pins are never included in community data.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — our cloud infrastructure provider, used for secure data storage, authentication, and API services
• Mapbox — for map rendering. Mapbox may receive your approximate location when loading map tiles
• Apple — for TestFlight distribution and App Store purchases
• Law enforcement — only if required by a valid legal process

7. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services servers in the United States (us-east-1 region). We use industry-standard security practices including:

• Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit
• AWS Cognito for secure authentication — we never store your plain-text password
• Access controls limiting who can access production data

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correct — update inaccurate data through the app
• Delete — request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Export — request an export of your spots and catch history

10. Children's Privacy

fishTraX is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the app. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
